Help: Text Index
You can use this function, if you want to create an index from a normal text file. For example, you can have a book with several pages numbered with page numbers. If you would like to have an index for the end of this book, you can use the Text Index function.

Than you can download the example files from the download section and copy the file "textindex.txt" into the window or select the file in the box above. After that, the Index Author takes the remainig work for you. Simply click on "Create Index" and you can see your ready index. Of course there also are also some other possibilities, described in the following.

2. Page Numbers
On this page, you can decide, which page numbers are used in your index. Either you can choose that every line in your source is a page or the Index Author can read out the page numbers. The result you can see in the window on this page. If you are not content with this result, you can delet some lines from the box or you can edit them by clicking "Edit". Here it is possible to add new page numbers or to indicate completely different names or line numbers.
Under "Criteria" you find some settings to choose the used criteria, when the pages are read out. For example it is possible to define a maximum line length, to increase the numbers systematically, only use numbers as page numbers and lots of other things.

In the next section Word Lists, you can define a White List or a Black List. Click on the button on the right to specify these lists. All words from the White List are written to the index, even if they would be removed after other criteria. Oppositely if behaves with words from the Black List. These words are removed in any case.
At long last, there are some more settings under the section "Index". Here you can choose that every entry should only happen once in the Index and that coherent words appear under every single word in the index. In addition, here you can choose an index file of an existing index, to which the new one is added. Under design, you can finally adapt your own index style.
