Installation
This help topic tells you everything about installing the FileAnalyzer and what operating systems the FileAnalyzer is currently available for.
The Path Concept
A central concept of the FileAnalyzer is the path concept, with which the FileAnalyzer structures the internal structure of files in the same way like a folder structure of a file system and thus enables individual elements of a file to be selected uniquely for searches or comparisons, for example. In the introduction to the path concept, you will learn more about this topic and how you can work with same-named and thus ambiguous paths.
Search for Byte Sequences, Numbers, Strings and within the File Structure
This help topic is about the search function of the FileAnalyzer. We explain how you can use the FileAnalyzer to search binary files for byte sequences, numbers or strings and how you can use the search for paths, properties and values within the file structure.
Comparison of Elements and Properties of Binary Files
With the comparison function of the FileAnalyzer, you can compare elements of multiple files or within files. The comparison can be carried out for entire chunks with all of their properties or just for individual properties thereof. You can find out how to invoke and use the comparator in this help topic.
Read, Search, Compare and Analyze Files via the Command Line or by Script
Many functions of the FileAnalyzer can be controlled not only via the graphical user interface but also alternatively via the command line. This allows, for example, the reading of values, the comparison of properties or chunks of multiple files or the search for byte sequences, numbers, strings or within the file structure to be automated and, for example, integrated into scripts or other programs.
An introduction to this topic with numerous examples and an overview of all available parameters can be found in the tutorial on script controlling the FileAnalyzer.
Save Settings
How to save and load the settings of the FileAnalyzer, where the settings are saved, and how to set automatic startup settings, you can learn in the introduction to saving and loading settings.
Language Settings
The FileAnalyzer has been translated into 4 languages so far. In the introduction to the language settings of the FileAnalyzer, you will learn how to configure the used language of the FileAnalyzer and which languages are currently supported.
Description of Functions
Are you looking for an explanation of a specific function, a specific option, or a specific button in the FileAnalyzer? In the function overview of the FileAnalyzer, we have assembled a list of all functions and operating elements sorted by the appearance in the software and explain everything individually.
Regular Expressions
Regular expressions are a powerful tool that you can also use in the FileAnalyzer in order to search for properties and values within the file structure. An introduction to the topic and some examples we have put together for you in the tutorial on regular expressions.
