Help: Tools

This palett of functions makes it possible to modify the source text, if there are no page numbers in it, to manage your lists or to create an index file from a normal text file. You find this functions in the main menu "Tools".

Index > Black List

This tool makes it possible to add new entries to your Black List from an existing index. Just select an index from the box on the left and add the selected entries with the button ">" to your Black List. After that you can save this list or you can only use the list in the current session. If you have saved the list as "neg.txt" and this file is in the application folder, the list is loaded at startup automatically.

Index > White List

This tool makes it possible to add new entries to your White List from an existing index. Just select an index from the box on the left and add the selected entries with the button ">" to your White List. After that you can save this list or you can only use the list in the current session. If you have saved the list as "pos.txt" and this file is in the application folder, the list is loaded at startup automatically.

Text > Index (*.idx)

With this tool, it is possible to change a normal text file into an index file. On the window there is the source text on the left above, the created index on the right above and under that, there all all options.

Start by clicking "Load Text" on the left above. After that your text source is loaded and you can see the text in the window next to the button. With the button ">" you can move the selected items into the index or undo this by the "<"-button between the two windows, if the lines were not added to the index correctly. If all lines are listed in the index, either you can save this index as an index file or you can use the buttons "File Index.." or "Text Index.." to work with your new index file in this categories.

The options indicate the criteria used, when writing lines to the index. At first it is possible to delete all lines containing a special character or a special length (for example to remove the ABC-headings). After that you have to indicate the characters which are used to distinguish between entries and page numbers. In addition, it is possible to carry out even further settings, for example in which order link and text are written in the source.

Write Folio To Text

Under circumstances, there is a text in front of you, you want to use as a source for an index, but this text contains no page numbers. What to do? If you do not want to write every number in this text by hand, you are welcome to use this simple tool. This tool contains some possibilities to write page numbers to your text document. For example you can replace all empty lines or another special character by an ongoing number or you can set a page number by mouse click.
