Change Log

On this page, you can find the history of changes made to the program PrintMyFonts.

DOCX Export (2026-07-07): Fix of the bug "Page numbers without spaces between the numbers" (in the format "Page x of y" when exporting as a DOCX document and displaying the exported document in Microsoft Word).
Font Tester (2026-03-14): In the font tester dialog, the font size can now be adjusted using the mouse wheel and tabs can be entered using the tabulator key. With CTRL + TAB (instead of only TAB) you can still jump from the font tester text field to the next control using the keyboard.
Language Settings (2026-03-13): Display of the language in the current application language as a mouseover over the language name in the national language.
Font File Type Selection (2026-01-14): The selection of the font format in the dialog "Search Folders" of the dialog "Manage Font Files" is now made easier by three new options in the context menu of the relevant checkboxes: With "Activate all", "Deactivate all" and "Activate only this option" you can quickly make a selection of font types without having to activate or deactivate all the checkboxes individually.
Improved Handling of Multi-Screen High DPI Environments (2025-09-09): Improved handling (saving, loading and positioning) of window size settings (window size and position) on systems with multiple high-DPI monitors of different sizes and resolutions.
Improved Handling of invalid Window Size Settings (2025-09-03): When loading window size settings, now a check is made to see whether the stored window position and window size settings match the current screen size. This prevents the window from being positioned outside the visible area when loading the settings, for example if the settings were saved on a larger screen than the current one.
Notification regarding rejected Files (2025-08-30): With the new option "Show warning if files have been rejected by the filter" in the file filter settings, you can receive a warning message when individual manually added files could not be added to the file list due to current filter settings. This function serves, among other things, to remind you of old but still active filters, which can lead to the question of why certain files were not accepted.
Reset of the Filter Settings (2025-08-29): In both the folder search dialog as well as the file filter dialog you will now find a new reset button ("Reset Filter") with which you can reset the corresponding settings to their initial state.
RTL Layout Adjustments (2025-08-28): Improvements of the graphical user interface of the settings dialog for right-to-left languages.
Individual Splash Screen (2025-07-12): The tab "System Integration" of the Settings Dialog (Settings > System Integration) now contains an option to enable and disable the splash screen that appears at program startup.
New Keyboard Shortcuts (2025-05-30): The dialogs "Font Tester", "Settings", "Font Files" and "Info" can now be closed using the ESC key.
New Sorting Options for the File List (2025-05-25): The sorting of text in the file list can now be influenced by the following new options: "Ignore Case" ("A" and "a" are treated the same), "Ignore Diacritics" ("ä", "á", "ā" and so on are treated like "a"), "Ignore the following words" (arbitrary words such as "the" or "a" can be defined that are considered non-existent during the sorting - with this "Beatles" is sorted the same as "The Beatles"), "Treat the following characters like spaces" (allows characters such as spaces, "-" or "_" to be treated equally during sorting) and "Treat characters ä/ö/ü/ß like ae/oe/ue/ss" (sorting like in a German dictionary). The new options can be found via the context menu of the file list "Columns" on the tab "Sorting" under "Text Sorting".
New Notification (2025-05-16): Show warning if too many images would be opened (in case an image export is taking place, a maximum number of fonts per image has been specified and the option "Open file after creating" is activated). This notice can be switched off via the image settings.
Copy File Names to Clipboard (2025-04-23): With this new option in the context menu of the file list, in addition to the complete paths, you can now also easily copy only the names of the selected files to the clipboard.
Remove Files based on their Location (2025-04-22): In the context menu of the file list with a single file selection active, there are now two new functions: "Remove Files from this Folder" and "Remove Files from other Folders". This allows you to either remove all files from the list that are stored in the same folder as the selected file or those files that are stored in a different folder, thereby keeping only the files that are in the selected file's folder.
Date Filter with rounded Time Specifications (2025-04-21): The file date filters that require a relative time, such as "Younger Than", "Older Than" or "Relative Time Period", now have a new option "Round to full years / months / weeks / days / hours / minutes". If this option is activated, the relative time period will be rounded up accordingly. "Older than two years" would mean exactly today's date two years ago if unrounded, but if rounded it would always mean the first of January of the following year regardless of today's date.
Dialog for Deleting Settings (2025-04-15): The function "Delete Settings" now displays a dialog in which all startup settings, language settings and other settings files stored on the respective computer are listed and can this way be managed and deleted individually. Previously, when using this function, all files found were deleted directly.
Settings Reset now with Inquiry (2025-03-29): The function "Reset Settings" now only resets the settings after a warning message has been confirmed. Previously an immediate reset took place.
Notification about selected Files (2025-02-28): If you have marked more than one file in the file list, their number will now be displayed above the file list in the form "Number of selected files/total number of files".
Open or Copy Links (2025-02-17): All linked websites can now also be opened via the context menu using the right mouse button (item "Open Link") or copied to the clipboard as a URL (item "Copy Link"). Left-clicking on a link will still open it in your default browser as before. Using the context menu and the new copy function, the URL can now also be used for other purposes.
File Filter Dialog (2025-02-14): In the dialogs "Search Folders" as well as "Filter Settings" you will find new functions in the context menu (right mouse button) of the options for the file name filter and the file path filter. Added are the options "Activate all" and "Deactivate all" for automatically selecting or deselecting all options, as well as the function "As Inline Flags" with which the corresponding flags from the currently activated options can be automatically placed in front of the search term without you having to worry about the syntax yourself.
New Language (2025-01-30): Svenska (Swedish).
Individual Parameters for single Search Terms (2025-01-19): If you have linked multiple search terms for your filename filter or your path filter using a colon : (AND conjunction) or a vertical bar | (OR conjunction), previously the selected options always referred to all of those search terms equally. However, now it is possible to set different options for each of the search terms. This can be done using the flags "c" (case sensitive), "d" (ignore diacritics), "w" (whole words), "p" (starts as a word), "q" (ends as a word), "b" (start), "e" (end), "a" (entire name) as well as "r" (regular expression), which can be placed in front of the individual search terms within angle brackets <> (for example "A:e" for: begins with a capital A and ends with a lower case e).
File Date Filters (2025-01-18): With the new filters for the creation date, last modified date, last accessed date, and last attribute changed date, files can now also be filtered by these file date types when searching folders. It is possible to search for relative times and time periods (today, yesterday, this week, last week, last two weeks, this month, last month, last two months, this year, last year, last two years, last five years), absolute times (before date, after date, between two dates), relative times (older than, younger than, between two points in time) and using a component search in which the date components (day, month, year) and the time components (second, minute, hour) can be searched independently of each other. Import of Folders (2025-01-16): File lists to be imported (text files with the file extension .filelist) can now also contain paths to folders, which contents are loaded during the import this way.
Limit Folder Name Filtering to individual Folder Levels (2025-01-13): The path filter for searching for specific folder names within the path can now be limited to any folder level (e.g. "2", "3-7" or "1,5-8"). When using this filter, only the specified folder levels are checked and all other levels are ignored.
Extension of the Whole Word Filter (2025-01-11): The option "Only consider whole words" of the file name filter and the path filter has been expanded to the two new options "Consider only whole words (beginning)" and "Consider only whole words (end)". If both of these options are activated, this corresponds to the previous behavior of "Search term must appear as a whole word". However, if only one of the two options is activated, you can search for the beginning of a word or the end of a word. If both options are deactivated, the search term can also appear anywhere within words.
File Filter Dialog (2025-01-09): The individual file filter types in the dialog "Add files from folders" can now be collapsed and expanded to make the dialog clearer. When the dialog opens, active filters are automatically displayed expanded so that these active filters are immediately visible. In addition, the position of the dialog is saved per session.
Search Terms with AND/OR Conjunction (2025-01-07): If the filter for the file name or the filter for the folder name was used with several different search terms, previously, it was sufficient if at least one of these search terms matched to trigger a hit (OR conjunction). In addition to this OR conjunction, which can still be used with the vertical bar | as delimiter, there is now also the additional option of linking various search terms with an AND using a colon. Examples of this are "a:b" (name must contain both "a" and "b"), "a|b" (name must contain "a" or "b") or "a:b|c" (name must contain "a" and also either "b" or "c").
File Size Filter (2025-01-05): The new file size filter allows you to set a minimum size and/or a maximum size in bytes, KB, MB, TB or PB for your file search.
Folder Level Filter (2025-01-04): The new folder level filter allows you to limit the search for files to specific folder levels within a directory structure. Individual levels (e.g. "3") as well as ranges (e.g. "2-5") as well as enumerations (e.g. "1.5-9") can be specified.
Syntax Unification (2025-01-03): Analogous to the folder search, the separator for several search terms within the file name filter has been adjusted to the vertical bar |. In order to be able to use the vertical bar within regular expressions, the relevant regular expression can be enclosed in double quotation marks.
Path Filter (2025-01-02): In addition to the filter for the file name, there is now also a filter for the path, which can be used to filter for the folder names within the path. This filter provides the same options as the file name filter (case sensitive, ignore diacritical marks, only consider whole words, folder name must begin/end with the search term, entire folder name must match, search term has to be interpreted as regular expression).
New Filename Filter Options (2024-12-31): In addition to the previous options "Case sensitive", "Entire name must match" and "Interpret as regular expression", the file name filter additionally has now the following new options: Ignore diacritics, search term must appear as a whole word, name must begin with the search term, name must end with the search term.
Positive and Negative Search (2024-12-29): In the filter for the file name, now, both a positive search as well as a negative search can be carried out combined together by placing a minus sign in front of the individual search terms separated by a delimiter if the term in question is to be excluded from the search. After the update from January 7, 2025, you can for example use the search term "a:-b" to find filenames that contain the letter "a" but not the letter "b". In this way, any number of positive and negative searches can be combined.
Refresh File Properties (2024-12-12): In the context menu of the file list you can now find the new entry "Refresh File Properties", with which you can update the properties of the files that have already been read out and are listed in the list, such as the file size, the modification date or meta information. You can use this option, for example, if you have changed files in external programs after creating the file list and want to adopt their new properties into the file list.
Windows System Integration Unicode Support (2024-12-02): Improved Unicode support for the Windows system integration, for example regarding user names and resulting user directories for storing settings that contain Unicode characters.
New Language (2024-08-31): Türkçe (Turkish).
New Language (2024-01-17): Български (Bulgarian).
Window Positioning (2023-12-27): With the new option "Settings > System Integration > Always on Top" you can keep the window of PrintMyFonts permanently in the foreground above all other program windows.
Position Storage (2023-06-09): Improved storage of the last window position in environments with more than one monitor.
Size Storage (2023-06-06): Improved storage of the program window size and the program layout under high DPI conditions.
New Function of the File List (2023-02-26): Via the context menu of the file list (right mouse button) and the new menu item "List Properties", a summary overview of all files in the file list broken down by their format can be displayed.
New Function of the File List (2023-01-24): Copy file paths to the clipboard (so far it was only possible to copy files into the clipboard).
New Language (2023-01-19): Српски (Serbian) in the versions for Windows, Linux and macOS..
New Placeholders (2022-11-15): With the new placeholders %type% and %ext%, the font type (TrueType, OpenType, Raster, Type 1 y así sucesivamente) as well as the file extension of the file of a font (TTF, OTF, FON, PFM/PFB y así sucesivamente) can be shown in the font list. In contrast to the old placeholder %format%, now also installed fonts are supported on Windows.
Font Type Filter (2022-11-13): With this new filter, the font list can be filtered according to the type (file format) of a font. Available are the options OpenTyp (OTF), TrueType (TTF), TrueType Collection (TTC), Raster (FON), Type 1 (PFM/PFB) and others. A multiple selection is possible.
Filter Selection (2022-11-02): In the dialog for selecting the format filter, a context menu can now be opened with the right mouse button, with which all formats can be activated or deactivated at the same time. This means that a format selection can be made faster, since not every font format has to be clicked individually.
Adjustments of the User Interface (2022-10-22): Adjustments of the program windows and dialogs for an improved display under high-dpi resolution conditions.
System Integration (2022-07-31): Possibility to integrate PrintMyFonts into the "Send to" context menu of the Windows Explorer in order to open and show font files and folders with font files in the program directly from the Explorer by right-click. You can find the option in the menu "Settings > System Integration > Context Menu".
New Parameters (2022-07-30): Font files and folders with font files can now be passed to PrintMyFonts by parameter in order to show the corresponding fonts with the program.
Settings (2022-01-19): To reduce the size of the settings files, only those settings are stored, which deviate from the default settings.
New Keyboard Shortcuts (2021-07-27): CTRL+P (Print current font list), CTRL+S (Save current font list according to the current selection of the export format), Shift+CTRL+S (Show Export Dialog), CTRL+R (Refresh Font List), CTRL+T (Show Font Test window), CTRL+O (Add Fonts from Font Files), CTRL+D (Add Folder with Font Files), CTRL+M (Show window for managing font files) and ESC (Quit program).
Restructuring of the Menus (2021-07-27): Restructuring and new menu items in the menu of the main window and in the context menu of the font list, including options to add individual font files or font files from folders, options for direct printing and saving of the font list as well as for updating the list.
New Placeholder (2021-06-13): The new placeholder %abs0num% stands for the position of the font within the font list with so many leading zeros that the character length corresponds to the character length of the number of fonts (suitable for the placeholder %abs%).
New Program Version (2021-05-05): 64 bit version for Linux as Debian package, RPM package and portable binary.
Language Detection (2021-05-03): Improvement of the automatic language detection of the system language when starting the program.
RTL-GUI Optimization (2021-04-14): Optimization of the font list and the general program layout for languages written from right to left.
New Language (2021-04-12): اَلْعَرَبِيَّة (Arabic).
Wildcard Search (2021-03-30): In addition to the search with regular expressions, the filter for the file name and the file extension now also supports simpler wildcard searches with * (any series of one or more characters or no character) and ? (single character).
Remove nonexistent Font Files (2021-03-21): New option in the pop-up menu of the font file list, which can check whether the files in the list still exist or, for example, have been deleted or moved after being added.
Font Zoom (2021-02-03): The fonts in the font list can now be zoomed with the mouse wheel while pressing the CTRL key.
Improved Help (2021-02-01): A readme file with instructions for running the program has been added to the ZIP archive for the macOS version.
Search Folders (2021-01-19): Improved dialog control when adding files from multiple folders.
Multiple selection of Folders (2021-01-14): In the dialog for adding font files from folders, with the CTRL key pressed, several folders can now be selected, searched and added at the same time.
New Keyboard Shortcuts (2020-12-23): You can use DEL to delete all selected fonts or font files, Shift + DEL to delete all fonts or font files not selected and CTRL + DEL to remove all fonts from the font list or files from the file list.
New Placeholders (2020-11-30): With the new placeholders %0num%, %00num%, %000num%, %0000num% and %00000num% you can output the position of the font in the list with one to five leading zeros.
New Language (2020-02-24): Polski (Polish).

Export and Import of added Font Files (2019-07-31): The list of added font files can now be exported as a file. The exported file can be imported in this or other programs again.

Custom Columns (2018-12-08): In the file list for the font files, now, custom columns can be set by right-clicking.

Saving of window position and window size (2018-02-10): Position and size of the program window can now be saved in the startup settings and setting profiles.
Column-Layout (2018-02-07): The export formats "RTF-Document" and "HTML-Website" can now also be created with an arbitrary number of columns.
Pangrams (2018-01-18): Additional pangrams (sentences containing all letters of a language) have been added for the languages English, German, Danish, Dutch, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish as well as the option "Show Pangrams of all languages".
Placeholders (2018-01-18): In addition to the existing placeholders, the new placeholder %abs% standing for the total number of all fonts in the list can now also be used in both text fields.
Line Breaks (2018-01-18): With the placeholder <linebreak> a line break can now be generated in the text fields. The line break is visible in all export formats as well as in the font list of the program.
Raster Fonts (2018-01-17): Special treatment and font size adjustment to enable the display of Microsoft raster fonts (also known as Screen Fonts or Bitmapped Fonts) such as Courier, Fixedsys, MS Sans Serif, MS Serif, Small Fonts, System and Terminal.
Print Font as Image (2018-01-17): New option in the print settings, which makes it possible to print a font not directly but as a picture. This approach resolves the problem that sometimes not all fonts could be printed. More information.
Improvements (2017-12-26): Better support of Simplified Chinese Font Names.
High-DPI-Improvements (2017-12-06): Improvements of the graphical user interface and the icons for high dpi settings.
Font List (2017-12-05): Implementation of Page-Up and Page-Down scrolling by keyboard and by mouse click on the open space of the scrollbar.
New Language (2017-09-22): Nederlands (Dutch).
Print Word Wrap (2017-07-16): You can now determine whether the font list should be printed with or without breaking long lines.
New Language (2017-03-23): Dansk (Danish).
Default Fonts (2016-09-18): You can now specify default font files and folders that are automatically loaded at startup.
Text Alignment (2016-09-14): The text can now be adjusted vertically (top, center, bottom) in the image export format.
Image Size (2016-08-17): The image export can now optionally be carried out using a fixed or dynamic width and/or height.

File Associations (2016-02-05): Settings (File Extension PFS, PrintMyFonts Settings) can now be linked with the program directly out of the application - Info.
New Function (2015-12-27): Filter-Options for searching font files.
New Language (2015-12-09): Português do Brasil (Brazilian Portuguese).
Colors (2015-10-29): There are new options in the settings for setting the font color and background color for the font list in the application as well as for the export formats individually.
Font Variants (2015-10-27): It is now possible to show, export and compare multiple variants of the same font (regular, bold, italic, bold italic) within one list under each other. The variants can be seleted from the settings General > Font Variants.
New Language (2015-10-11): Español (Spanish).

Manage Font Files (2015-10-07): The program now has a window in which it is possible to manage the added fonts from files.
Filter (2015-10-07): It is now possible to filter the font list.
Image-Export (2015-10-07): You can now set a maximum number of fonts for each image and thus create multiple images with a defined number of fonts simultaneously.
Save Settings (2015-10-07): It is now possible to save settings.
Advanced Settings (2015-10-07): The settings are now separated by the different export formats.
New Function (2015-10-07): You are now able to define two different texts, one which will be written in the corresponding font, and another one which will be written in the default font. With this, it is possible, for example, to write the font name behind symbol fonts in a readable way.
Preview of each Font (2015-10-07): Now you can see an arbitrary text written in the font even in the font list.
Constants (2015-10-07): In both text fields, it is possible to use some constants such as %name% (name of font), %num% (numbering), %format% or %filename%
New Export-Formats (2015-10-07): RTF-Document, HTML-Web Page, PNG-Image. The printing is now carried out via the print dialog by default and there is a new function to open the new file directly after creating.
Improvement (2015-02-01): Improvements for multi screens.
Improvement (2013-06-26): Improvement of displaying fonts with different heights in the font list.
Improvement (2012-08-06): Bug during font counting fixed.
New Function (2012-02-01): In the output box, the possibility to print with the standard printer dialog was added. So, it is now possible to change the printer or other settings with the dialog.
Improvement of existing functions (2012-01-10): Improvement of the user experience during user inputs. Bug fix for Windows versions Vista and 7. Cleaning up of the main window.
New Function (2011-04-23): Now it is possible to print the name of the font in the font list both in a standard font as well as in the selected font. So it is now possible to also read the names of unreadable fonts.
New Function (2011-02-28): Beyond exporting as print, PDF or image, you can now also export your font lists as Microsoft Word® Document.
New Function (2011-01-15): Fonts that are not installed can now alternatively exported with or without directory and/or file name.
New Function (2011-01-10): You can now export alternatively in portrait or landscape orientation. The function can be found in the menu "Advanced Settings".
