Settings
On this page you will find an overview of all options from the settings dialog of the TextConverter with an explanation of the respective function. You reach the dialog described here via the "Settings" menu. An explanation of the functions of other program parts of the TextConverter can be found in the function overview.
- General > File List > Configure Columns: With this function you can specify which columns should be displayed in the file list in the main window and thus determine which information is listed about the loaded text files. Enable a checkbox to display the corresponding column or remove the check mark in front of an entry to hide the respective column. Available are columns from the domains file properties (name, format, size, type, old path, new path, folder), information about the text file (line break type, encoding type, byte order mark, number of characters, number of words, number of lines, first characters of the file), checksums (MD5, CRC32, CRC32B), file dates (created, changed, last access), file attributes (writing-protected, hidden) as well as the file number in the list and the status of the file. You can change the order of the columns with your mouse. The default configuration can be restored using the "Reset" button. Alternatively, you can also call up this function by right-clicking on the file list.
- Preview > Editor Type: Editor type that is used for displaying the original text and the preview.
- Preview > Editor Settings > Font: Font that is used for displaying the original text and the preview.
- Preview > Editor Settings > Font Size: Font size that is used for displaying the original text and the preview.
- Preview > Editor Settings > Wrap long Lines: If this option is not activated, long lines in the fields "Original" and "Preview" are shown without a wrap, so that a horizontal scrollbar is displayed for lines that are longer than the width of the respective field. If this option is activated, long lines are wrapped so that a horizontal scroll bar is not necessary.
- Preview > Editor Settings > Zoom Original and Preview synchronously: When this option is activated, the fields "Original" and "Preview" are zoomed synchronously. This means that if you hold the CTRL key and turn the mouse wheel over one of the fields, not only the font size of this field is changed but automatically also the font size of the other field, so that both fields always have the same font size. If this option is not activated, both fields can be zoomed independently of each other.
- Preview > Automatic Preview: With these options you can specify the events which should trigger the preview to be updated automatically. The options available are: if a file is selected, if actions are changed and/or if text is entered into the field "Original". If the automatic preview is turned off, you can click on "Refresh Preview" (CTRL+R) to see an updated preview.
- Image Export: Settings for the export as an image (if one of the formats PNG, JPG or BMP is selected in the storage options under "File Extension"). For the image export, the font (font, font size, font color, font style), the background color of the image as well as the margins and spaces (top, left, bottom, right, line spacing) can be specified.
- System Integration: Here you can find some settings for linking files with the TextConverter or for configuring the Auto Start settings. You can find more information about that in the help section about System Integration.
- Language (Menu "Language Settings"): Here you can change the language of the application. With the button "Save language" you can save your chosen language, otherwise the program will start if possible with the language of your operating system. More information about the language settings of the TextConverter can be found here. If the TextConverter has not yet been translated into your preferred language, you are welcome to help with the translation.
- Save (Menu "Save or Load Settings"): Here you can find ways to save the current settings, to set startup preferences, or to create profiles for settings. You will also find the storage options here and you can delete existing saved settings. More information and a description of the functions can be found on the page about saving settings.
